Ritz grew up in Paarl where he matriculated at Paarl Boy’s High. He obtained his B.Com and LL.B degrees from Stellenbosch University and was admitted as an attorney, notary and conveyancer of the High Court of South Africa in 1996. Ritz joined Van der Spuy & Partners in 1994, becoming a partner in 1998. In addition to property transactions including the sale of farms, Ritz has extensive knowledge and experience in labour and employment law as well as the drafting of commercial contracts, ante nuptial contracts and wills. He is a trustee of the Hope and Reconciliation Trust as well as the Hugenote Gedenkskool. He also serves as a Director of the Helpmekaar Studiefonds. Ritz is a Commissioner of the Small Claims Court and a Mediator. Resolving disputes and mediating officially and unofficially has been Ritz's trademark and way of life for the past 30 years.
