Marie has been an advocate since 1999. She was associated with the Pretoria Society of Advocates for 21 years and is currently a member of the North Gauteng Association of Advocates. Marie served on the disciplinary committee of the Pretoria Society of Advocate for 15 years, she was involved in mentoring pupils during their pupillage specifically in legal writing and contingencies in RAF matters. She has been appointed as an acting judge on numerous occasions and is still practicing as an advocate, specializing in Medical Negligence, RAF claims and Personal Injuries in general, Commercial Law and Family Law. Marie has also completed a course in Keynote speaking and has appeared in that capacity internationally.
