After an initial career in applied industrial health research the mining and security industries (SA Chamber of Mines, CSIR), I joined the Johannesburg Society of Advocates. I have been a practicing advocate for the past 29 years, specialising in personal injury and medical malpractice claims. I have been appointed by the High Court of South Africa as curator ad litem in hundreds of cases to assist persons incapable of managing their own affairs, in their claims. This requires that I independently investigate such claims, and report to Court on suitable protection (if required) of awards made to such claimants.
